Above you will see two sets of pictures and one set
of HOTV letters we use for testing with children that don’t yet recognize
all of their letters. Regardless of whether we are testing with pictures
or with
HOTV the child can respond by matching rather than saying the
names of the pictures or letters.
It would be helpful if you could
practice with your child prior to his/her exam so that they will
be more familiar with this testing when seen at the office.
If the
child is unable or unwilling to say the names of the pictures or
letters, print two copies of the pictures or HOTV letters and play
our matching game. Practice with your child by pointing to a picture
or letter on the sheet you are holding and have your child point
to the matching one on the sheet that he/she is holding.
If the child
can recognize and say the names of the letters or pictures, that
is entirely permissible as well.
