  • Peru Eye SurgeryJune 2011 – Dr. Lenahan returns from another successful trip to Peru as part of a 31-person Vision Health International medical mission team. This year was especially successful since the team was able to complete 60 pediatric surgeries. In addition, Dr. Lenahan and Pediatric Eyecare's Certified Opthalmic Technician Sandra Carpenter were able to arrive early to teach local ophthalmologists and students different techniques.   • March/April 2011 – Dr. Lenahan is presenting an optional workshop at the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Annual Meeting.
     
  • May 2011 – Dr. Lenahan is once again making her way to Peru in conjunction with Vision Health International's medical mission program. During her trip this year she is going early to teach and train local ophthalmologist in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus procedures.
     
  • PeruJune 2010 - Dr. Lenahan once again made the trek to Peru as part of Vision Health International’s medical mission campaign. She and five other colleagues from the Grand Valley, plus a resident of the pediatric ophthalmology program at the University of Iowa, offered their services to address adult and youth cataracts, eye injuries and ocular birth defects.

  • April 2010 - Dr. Lenahan will travel to Orlando, Florida to make a presentation at the 36th annual meeting of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus. Dr. Lenahan serves on both the Socioeconomic and Vision Screening committees of the AAPOS.

  • June 2010 - Dr. Lenahan will once again travel to Peru to perform children's eye surgeries through Vision Health International's program. She will be accompanied by a resident of the pediatric ophthalmology program at the University of Iowa.

  • October 2009 - Our certified opthalmic technician, Sandy, attended the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology training in San Francisco. She received over 40 hours of special training from physicians recognized and respected internationally. This training allows here to keep her skills refined and up-to-date.

  • August 2009 – The American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus has appointed Dr. Lenahan to serve on both the Socioeconomic and Vision Screening Committees. The goal of the Socioeconomic Committee is to improve practice management for all members, develop policy statements of socioeconomic interests, and monitor insurance issues. The Vision Screening Committee will be working on vision screening programs for children on a national basis for the detection of amblyopia ("lazy eye").
     
  • June 2009 – Dr. Lenahan went to Peru again and performed children's eye surgeries through Vision Health International's program. Last year Dr. Lenahan completed approximately 35 surgeries during the week she was in Peru.

  • April 2009 – Dr. Lenahan attended the 35th Annual Meeting of the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus in San Francisco. This is the largest annual meeting for Pediatric Ophthalmology in the country, and is attended by international members as well.
     
  • February 2009 – Dr. Lenahan attended the Annual Solitude Pediatric Ophthalmology Round Table Conference, where she gave several case presentations.
